I haven't blogged in awhile because I've been researching newsletters. My plan right now is to call it Shiny Bits and use it to talk about all the things that distract us from who we really are. I've been on a mission for more than a year to develop artwork that reflects who I am as an artist. It turns out, who I am is abstract. I feel a little as though I'm playing hooky, and "playing" is the key word. I play the "what if" game: what if I mixed this with that? What if I made marks with this? Or that? What if I add this color? it's a 180 from representational work, which had become less than satisfying. So much hard work for so little satisfaction. I still love to draw - detailed finished drawings - but i must admit to the joy I find in letting loose.

Those are the sort of things  - those aha moments - I want to write about. Probably once a month. Stay tuned.
